بھول جاؤ گے زخم خنجر کے

English Translation:
Friendship is common, but oh friend,
A true friend is found with great difficulty.

لوگ ڈرتے ہیں دشمنی سے تری
ہم تری دوستی سے ڈرتے ہیں
Roman Urdu:
Log dartay hain dushmani se teri
Hum teri dosti se dartay hain
Hindi:
लोग डरते हैं दुश्मनी से तेरी
हम तेरी दोस्ती से डरते हैं
English Translation:
People fear your enmity,
We fear your friendship.
Urdu:
چاہتے بھی ہیں چاہتے بھی نہیں
دوستی کی نئی مثال ہے یہ
Roman Urdu:
Chahte bhi hain, chahte bhi nahi
Dosti ki nayi misaal hai yeh
Hindi:
चाहते भी हैं, चाहते भी नहीं
दोस्ती की नई मिसाल है यह
English Translation:

کٹ گئیں ساری پتنگیں ڈور سے
چلتی ہیں کیسے ہوائیں زور سے
بے وفا سارے پرندے ہو گئے
دوستی اپنی بھی تھی اک مور سے
چند جذبے جنگ میں مشغول تھے
رات بھر میں سو نہ پایا اس شور سے

Kat gayin saari patangain door se
Chalti hain kaise hawayein zor se
Be-wafa sare parinde ho gaye
Dosti apni bhi thi ek mor se
Chand jazbay jung mein mashghool thay
Raat bhar mein so na paya is shor se
Hindi:
कट गईं सारी पतंगें डोर से
चलती हैं कैसे हवाएँ ज़ोर से
बेवफा सारे परिंदे हो गए
दोस्ती अपनी भी थी एक मोर से
चंद जज़्बे जंग में मशगूल थे
रात भर में सो ना पाया इस शोर से
English Translation:
All the kites have been cut from the string,
How fiercely the winds now blow.
All the birds have turned unfaithful,
Even our friendship was once with a peacock.
Some emotions were caught in battle,
All night I couldn’t sleep because of the noise.

ایک دوست میری زندگی میں ایسا ہے
پھولوں میں ایک گلاب جیسا ہے
Roman Urdu:
Ek dost meri zindagi mein aisa hai
Phoolon mein ek gulab jaisa hai
Hindi:
एक दोस्त मेरी ज़िन्दगी में ऐसा है
फूलों में एक गुलाब जैसा है

A friend in my life is like,
A rose among the flowers.
Urdu:
بہت پرانی دوستی ہے مجھے تم سے
یوں دہرائے پہ لا کر تمہیں چھوڑنا نہیں چاہتا
اشکوں سے کہنا پڑا مجھے بے قدر نہ ٹپکیں
وہ مجھے بے بس روتا ہوا دیکھنا نہیں چاہتا
بے غرض روٹھنا منانا چلتا رہے تم سے
میں تمہیں بے سبب گنوانا نہیں چاہتا
Roman Urdu:
Bohat purani dosti hai mujhe tum se
Yun dharaye pe la kar tumhe chorna nahi chahta
Aansuon se kehna pada mujhe be-qadr na tapken
Woh mujhe be-bas rota hua dekhna nahi chahta
Be-gharz roothna manana chalta rahe tum se
Main tumhein be-sabab gawana nahi chahta

बहुत पुरानी दोस्ती है मुझे तुम से
यूं दहराए पे ला कर तुम्हें छोड़ना नहीं चाहता
आंसुओं से कहना पड़ा मुझे बे-क़दर न टपकें
वो मुझे बेबस रोता हुआ देखना नहीं चाहता
बेग़र्ज़ रूठना मनाना चलता रहे तुम से
मैं तुम्हें बे-सबब गँवाना नहीं चाहता

Our friendship is long and dear to me,
I don’t want to bring you close just to let you go.
